Marco's Stelara thread

Hello everybody ,

Today , friday 8th November i have received the first shot ( 45 mg ) of Stelara.
All made in hospital where a kind nurse showed me how to do the injection ( made on the belly ).
More easy than i expected.
My derm explained me all about that Bio drug including possible side effects.
After some hours all ok.
Let's hope that everything will be ok.

Oh fingers crossed for you - stelara worked quickly for me so I hope you get improvements soon.
Do you have to use a normal needle or a ‘pen’ style thing?

I had a normal needle. No pain. The injection was prepared 30 min before the shot so the liquid inside was not cold.
In Italy these drugs are free for chronic patients. State covers 100% the price of the drug.
You know... i'm a little bit worried about side effects for first days. My derm told me to be quiet and enjoy life.
Let's hope.
Did you eat and drink normally when you get the shot ? It's friday and i need a beer

I have been on it for getting on for six years and apart from a little tired for a few days after the injection I have had no side effects to speak of but what I have had is 99% clearance so it's been a real life changer , all the best. It can knock your immune system down so just be sensible and avoid anything or anyone that has the potential to give you infections and I include ,for me at least , food that could cause stomach problems like cream that's been stood a while..

I live between Italy and Czech Republic and in Cz the beer is less expensive than water...

Good luck Marco. You enjoy your beer, there is no reason to cut out any foods or alcohol when using Stelara.

Like Dave said you you may feel tired for a few days and possibly a mild flu like feeling, but your body will get used to it. Dave is also right when he said it knocks your immune system and because of that some people are more cautious about what they eat, but I never had any problems and I love nice ripe Brie or melted Camembert.

You dermatologist is right when he/she said "be quiet and enjoy life" eat drink and be happy with clear skin, it is a great treatment.

Just a little update...
First days after the shot are ok. Didn't feel bad but honestly i don't know what to wait for the next days.
I live my life and i try to forget my P  
I know that probably i have to wait 1 month or more to see results.
