I have the impression that there are more governments making bad decisions in software choices…. We also have a government like that.
And whoh !!! “ Instead of saving $70 million a year as planned, the report said that the cost to taxpayers to fix Phoenix's problems could reach a total of $2.2 billion by 2023.”
That is amazingly bad.
Off the shelf is ok for small systems…. But for big systems….![]()
But of course dedicated developed software can also go berserk.
Our government once did a good choice for a specific project, they had started themselves with a devastating combination of Excel spreadsheets, terribly complex, needing two teams of 5 people. Then they decided to buy the adaptable system of the company where I work. Result, everything became simpler, faster, in control and only needed one team of 5 people.
Technology is wizardry. Magic. I do not get it. I think some people have really good logical brains and can follow the thinking needed for creating code and software. Not me. You do, though, Caroline. And you have a nice way of explaining, making it easier to try to understand.
