Yes, not holding out much hope with them really, let alone get an appointment.
I will keep note of issues and see if they coincide with times of injection due etc.
I have always thought there is no way of telling if it is PsA, but remember reading
one of the threads where I think you mentioned a blood test? I did say to my derm
about blood test and she said, we don't do that on the NHS!
Is there a test which can tell you?
Thanks
Angie
Hi Angie,
No, there are no blood tests that can prove that you have Psoriatic Arthritis.
There are blood tests which can exclude that you have Rheumatic artritis, as that test can reveal antibodies that are common with RA.
Excluding that is the most simple step.
With RA excluded and having psoriasis, the logical chance of having Psoriatic Arthritis is to my guess 99%.
There is a suspicion that it may be possible to find pyrovate in the liquid that can be punctured from a swollen joint. But that is unproven in the current medical practice as hardly anyone knows that so nobody will check that. This suspicion is derived from a theory that Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis are basically the result of a disturbance in the citric acid cycle of the mitochondria and pyrovate may be the result of that. But for now that is a hypothesis, and nobody is looking into that direction.
Cheers,
Caroline
