OK Bav I've had a better look at it, and I could make an edit to the plug-in to make it work. But I'm not to keen as it was last updated in 2012, and some of the reviews don't sound to promising. I'm not against using old plug-ins and we do have some in use here that I have edited to make them work, but I'm not that good at messing with plug-in codes and if it does cause problems like some of the last comments in the reviews mentioned then it could possibly get thrown in the bin one day when I turn up at my desk and find errors.
Like Caroline said we welcome suggestions for making Psoriasis Club better for our users, and I'm not saying I won't install it but I'm not convinced it would be used going by past comments. If you or other members could convince me it would get used then I would be willing to try it on my test forum to see how works with the new software.
But remember if we do install it, to make it send a PM to you the person making the post will have to put [bav101] and not Bav. If you have a look at the member list we have some very odd looking usernames and should you want the plugin to work you would need to know the exact username and put it inside [ ] so instead of Jim it will have to be [jiml] a lot of us tend to call some members by other names and not by their full username. [Grizzly Bear] for example is sometimes referred to as Grizzly, Andy, or GB.
Also think of the extra work involved for the server sending out Emails for those that get notifications of PMs, I'm not sure how much difference it would make but my host allows me to send 200 emails per hour this post alone has 4 members mentioned so that's 4 PMs and probably emails as most members have notifications going out for just one post (that is if I remembered to put their proper usernames inside [ ] in the first place)
On a personal note if it was installed I would hate getting PMs telling me I have been mentioned, my inbox is full enough each day without getting more telling me about a post I may have already read. So I would have to make a BBCode to stop people Tagging me, if I do make such code will that cause an error with the plug-in ?
Bav you and other members are welcome to convince me it's worth a try, if enough people want it then I would put it to the vote but with the caveat that there would have to be a way of people opting out of being tagged, and if it caused any problems with errors I would remove it.
