Hi Alan!
Your story gives me so much hope! I found this thread almost a year ago and I keep coming back to re-read it, but it wasn't until two weeks ago that I started the anti candida diet. Before I was doing a version of the diet that was never going to work (eating two portions of rice a day, bananas, etc) I hope you're still around and this message reaches you. As I just started the diet, I wanted to ask you... - Did you eat things like quinoa, brown rice, oats, and legumes for the first few months, or you went like zero carbs and just ate eggs, meats and vegetables until you started to see results? - Also, did you use olive oil / coconut oil in your meals or only butter? - Did you take any supplements, probiotics? I apologize for such specific questions! I've been very sick for almost +3 years with severe candida overgrowth and horrible psoriasis, and small details like that actually help me to get this right. I want to get my life back, I feel like it was stolen from me. I'm still eating those things (quinoa, oats and beans) as I'm already underweight, I haven't taken those out of the diet -yet-, but if I have to do it I will do it, I'd just have to find a way to add more calories using the right foods. If you remember, what did breakfast, lunch and dinner look like to you the first 12 weeks or so? Thank you so much Alan!

Hello Clara,
Welcome to Psoriasisclub, at first. For your information, Alan has not been on the forum for quite a while. I hope he will see that you have posted in his thread and will be able to react. Cheers, Caroline.

Hi Clara Sorry for the delay in replying, I was on holiday when I saw the e-mail that you'd posted to this thread, but I totally forgot to reply when I got home. In answer to point 1, I totally cut out all carbs from the start and saw an improvement over a few weeks. So yes, a diet with meat and non-starchy veg. and eggs, butter, lard. I was also taking some supplements but to be honest I don't think they made much difference, the carbs were the problem for me. Point 2, yes I stuck to butter and lard for cooking and olive oil for salads with plenty of salt and pepper to taste. Try drizzling hot butter over green salad leaves topped with crunchy sea salt and cracked pepper... perfection. Point 3, I was taking vitamins C, D, E and a coconut oil supplement (but I don't think they made much difference, but I don't think they do any harm.) The only probiotic I took was unpasteurized kefir, which I drink to this day because it tastes so nice and I believe it to be good for me. Also, raw milk which I also enjoy. Oh, and raw garlic, I'd forgotten about that - it's really strong and takes a bit of getting used to chewing 3 cloves first thing in the morning, but I think it helped for the first couple of weeks. After that I just used plenty of garlic in my cooking and added to salads in a olive oil/raw cider vinegar dressing. Raw cider vinegar also helped I think. I hope you get this reply and keep us all updated on your progress. Kind regards Alan |
